Who are we?

Mariniot is the party responsible for the processing of personal data in the context of the products and services. We are located in the Netherlands and can be reached via info@mariniot.nl.

1 What data do we collect?

When using our products and services, we can process the following data:

When purchasing:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Payment details

2 When using the Bootlogger and data subscription:

  • Location data (via GPS)
  • Sensor values ​​(e.g. battery voltage, bilge water status)
  • Communication data via the mobile network (such as modem status)
  • Time stamps and technical log data

3 What do we use this data for?

We process personal data exclusively for the following purposes:

Processing of orders and payments

Delivery of products and support

Sending updates and service messages

Analysis of measurement data for the purpose of boat monitoring

Management of the user account

Compliance with legal obligations (e.g. tax administration)

We process data on the basis of:

  • Performance of a contract (such as purchase or data subscription)
  • Legal obligation (such as retention obligation)
  • Legitimate interest, for example for product improvement or customer service
  • Consent, if required (e.g. for marketing)

5 Sharing data with third parties

  • We share data with third parties exclusively if this is necessary for:
  • Hosting and storage of data
  • Processing of payments (e.g. via our payment provider)
  • Mobile network connectivity (via SIM provider)
  • We conclude a processing agreement with these parties.

6 Retention period

  • We do not store data longer than necessary:
  • Order data: max. 7 years (fiscal retention obligation)
  • Sensor and account data: up to 1 month after cancellation of the subscription
  • Location and boat data: as long as necessary for service provision
  • After cancellation of the subscription, the account and all associated data will be irreversibly deleted.

7 Security

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including:

  • Encrypted communication (HTTPS, MQTTS)
  • Access restriction to systems
  • Regular software updates and security patches

8 Your rights

  • You have the right to:
  • Inspection of your data
  • Correction or deletion
  • Restriction of processing
  • Objection to processing
  • Portability of your data
  • You can exercise these rights by contacting us via info@mariniot.nl.

9 Data leaks

In the event of a serious data leak, we will report this to the Dutch Data Protection Authority within 72 hours, and if necessary to the users involved.

10 Complaints

Do you have a complaint about our handling of your data? Please contact us. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority via www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
